Virtual Tour Community meetings and celebrations were held. Here is a drawing of the banquet to celebrate the laying of the cornerstone for the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge. A young Andrew Carnegie was there. The confectionery model of the bridge you see in the drawing attracted more attention than anything else at the dinner. Political rallies for local, state and national candidates were held. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Poughkeepsie's favorite - Theodore Roosevelt appeared.   BACK          NEXT   top of page
