Historic Restoration & Preservation
The stewardship of an historic theater – much less two – is a challenging and costly undertaking.
Our theaters are significant economic and cultural anchors in our communities, and it is our responsibility to keep them healthy and strong. This explains why restoration, preservation, and maintenance are vital aspects of our mission.
Thanks to our generous capital donors, we’ve made tremendous improvements to both of our structures. Over the past 17 years, we have spent more than $9 million on renovations and upgrades at our namesake theater alone. At UPAC, the list of nearly $2 million in capital projects we have completed since the merger with the Bardavon in 2007 is also impressive.
Our fundraising efforts for Restoration & Preservation include campaigns such as the Esplanade Walk of Fame and have provided much-needed finances for capital improvements. But, in order to preserve and maintain our theaters for future generations, we have much more work to do.
