We are excited to announce that we will be holding the 48th Annual Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition virtually. Although we had to cancel this event in 2020 we are back and we will be streaming direct to you through the “Bardavon Presents” YouTube Channel.  We will also be streaming all 9 of our semi-finalists who have been selected in advance from last year’s remarkable group of entrants.

Stream the videos of all nine of our 2021 competitors, available now! at Bardavon Presents YouTube Channel. There you will be able to see and hear performances of Bach and the full concerto. These videos will remain available right up to and beyond our Competition Finals video.

As always the HVP String Competition  is free to all.
DONATIONS WELCOME!

This string competition gives the public a rare opportunity to hear and see some of the best young violinists, cellists, and violists in the world before their careers have even begun. The competition has always attracted some of the finest conservatory string players in the world, and many participants have gone on to illustrious classical music careers.

The first prize winner receives a cash award of $4,000 and will perform as guest soloist with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic during the following season, and will also have the opportunity to travel to Italy for a week to perform a recital at the MUSICAL LANDSCAPES OF TUSCANY FESTIVAL in August 2021.

Previous notables include: violist Marcus Thompson ’67 (Boston Chamber Players), violinist Ani Kavafian ’73 (Lincoln Center Chamber Players soloist), violinist Adela Pena ’85 (Eroica Trio), and violinist Judith Ingolfsson ’96 (1998 Indianapolis International Violin Competition winner),  cellist Dahae Kim 2010, (LA Philharmonic, second principal).
