Met Live In HD: Marnie (Nico Muhly/Libretto Nicholas Wright)

Nico Muhly’s Marnie, based on Winston Graham’s novel, which in turn inspired Alfred Hitchock’s suspenseful thriller, has its U.S. premiere at the Met this season. Isabel Leonard stars in the title role opposite Christopher Maltman as her blackmailing husband Mark Rutland, Iestyn Davies as his brother Terry, Janis Kelly as Mrs. Rutland, and acclaimed mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves as Marnie’s mother. Robert Spano makes his company debut conducting.

Marnie is a co-commission and co-production with English National Opera, where the production premiered in 2017.

PRE SHOW TALK: One half hour prior to curtain time, ticket-holders are invited to enjoy an insightful talk at the Bardavon or UPAC on the day’s production lead by Leslie Gerber, who is a music teacher at Marist’s Center for Lifetime Studies and author of all Hudson Valley Philharmonic playbill liner notes.

The generous corporate sponsor of The Met: Live in HD at the Bardavon and UPAC is Premier Medical Group. The Met: Live in HD is also made possible in part through generous support from the Jane Nuhn Charitable Trust. Additional support also comes from the Dr. Edwin Ulrich Charitable Trust and the Steve and Julia Dunwell and Benjamin R. Strong Opera Funds of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley.

Reminder: This is a live satellite broadcast direct from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. On occasion there may be visual or sound disturbances that are beyond the Bardavon’s control. In the event a disturbance does occur, please be patient. Thank you.
