| For more than 130 years Poughkeepsie's Bardavon Opera House has brought the very finest performing arts to the Hudson Valley. The oldest continuously operating theatre in New York State and among the oldest in the nation, the Bardavon has long been considered the cultural jewel of the region. Artists who have performed on its' stage comprise a veritable Who's Who of the past century and a half: Mark Twain, Sarah Bernhardt, the Barrymores, Edwin Booth, John Philip Sousa, Paderewski, Burns and Allen, Dizzy Gillespie, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Martha Graham, Al Pacino and Bob Dylan. Since 1999 the Bardavon has managed and presented the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and in 2006 the Bardavon took over the management of the Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC) in Kingston. The Bardavon continues to embrace its' long history by presenting an electrifying array of superb music, drama, dance, and film events.
