Virtual Step Afrika!
Now thru March 5th by reservation
Day One: Teachers will receive an introductory video to the History of Stepping, entitled “What is Stepping?” Step Afrika!’s educational guide will be made available to all instructors who wish to use the program.
Day Two: Stepping with Step Afrika! This tutorial will be a fun, interactive way for students to learn the tradition of stepping in 10 minutes of less. Led by Step Afrika! instructors and based on Step Afrika!’s exhibit at the Smithsonian’s national Museum of African-American History & Culture in Washington, DC, this video will get students moving versus sitting still in front of computer screens.
Day Three: The Performance, Act 1. The standard Step Afrika! performance for young students is 50-55 minutes. Step Afrika! will break the performance up into two acts of no more than 20 minutes per viewing for easy use in the classroom setting.
Day Four: The Performance, Act 2.
Day Five: Meet the Artists of Step Afrika!: a pre-recorded Q & A for students. Step Afrika! artists stress four important concepts: teamwork, discipline, commitment and academic achievement. This session will allow students to connect personally with the artists and learn more about their lives as students and dancers across the globe.
Market is limited contractually to NY’s Hudson valley .
Made possible in part through the generous support of The Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation.
