West Side Story (1961)

Winner of ten Academy Awards including Best Picture. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is re-imagined in mid-century west side Manhattan with a score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer are the star-crossed lovers, with Rita Moreno, Russ Tamblyn, George Chakiris, and the singing voice of Marni Nixon.
