Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Founded in 1994 in partnership with the Soweto Dance Theatre, the Company is one of the top ten African American dance companies in the United States today.

Step Afrika! blends stepping, a percussive dance style practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, South African Gumboot, and traditional Zulu dance with influences from a variety of other dance and art forms. The Company integrates songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation into its performance. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding.
