HVP: BEHIND THE MUSIC #5
The Bardavon is pleased to announce our fifth episode of HVP: Behind the Music, a new series on YouTube @BardavonPresents.
Behind the Music introduces you to our guest conductors who will lead the orchestra in our 21-22 season. The series also features interviews with upcoming soloists and in-depth conversations with featured composers from each concert; many of whose works will be performed for the first time by the HVP this season.
The next episode will explore our May 14th concert, Themes and Variations with guest conductor André Raphel. The concert features a New York premiere of a concerto by Israel’s preeminent composer in a program that features Judaic composers from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. In this episode, composer Richard Danielpour introduces our audience to his work and discusses his Adagietto for String Orchestra, which marks his premiere work being performed by the HVP. Conductor André Raphel reflects on the upcoming program and tells us about his work as a conductor. We’re joined by soloist Lara St John who last appeared with the HVP in 2007 performing Corigliano’s Red Violin Suite. And we hear from composer Avner Dorman who discusses his Nigumin Violin Concerto #2 which makes it’s NYS premiere at our next concert!
Don’t miss it and don’t forget our pre-concert talk with guest conductor André Raphel at 7PM where we will continue the conversation. If you can’t make the premiere, you can watch anytime leading up to the concert.
Masks are optional.
