Support Bardavon – UPAC – Hudson Valley Philharmonic
Our theaters closed on March 13, 2020 and reopened in late August 2021.
Since 2020 we lost nearly 3 million dollars in revenue.
We were very happy to reopen in August, but it’s been a roller coaster ride ever since. With constant virus variants, vax and mask mandates and, continuous artist scheduling changes and cancellations, it doesn’t feel like a return to anything too normal again until maybe this summer, but who knows.
On the plus side, we’ve presented amazing performances from a wonderfully diverse group of artists from Patti Smith and Rhiannon Giddens who both supplied real spiritual up lift, to David Sedaris and Alan Cumming who each provided their own special world view and Trombone Shorty, Brit Floyd, En Vogue, Messiah and the Mavericks who all blew the roof off. Plus the Hudson Valley Philharmonic have played some wonderful concerts with terrific guest conductors.
But audiences are definitely still hesitant to come inside, especially for the Hudson Valley Philharmonic who are 50% off normal sales, and we’ve see as high as 40% no shows which is way above normal. Nothing too surprising but a difficult balancing act.
Schools are not doing any field trips for the foreseeable future and so our evolution in 2020-21 into creating and presenting streaming performances and even residencies to over 30,000 young people is coming in very handy in 21-22 as well.
We are committed to adapting to the current circumstances while presenting much-needed arts programming to our community.
Your support is one of the main reasons that’s even possible.
We need your help now more than ever.
