Copland’s moving tribute, narrated by Oscar nominee David Strathairn with projections of historic images from Lincoln’s life, plus Hudson Valley favorites Jay Ungar & Molly Mason and Dvorák’s inspired New World. This program is part of the Adriance Memorial Library’s Exhibition titled Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, made possible by the Poughkeepsie Public Library District. Ticket holders are invited to a pre-concert talk by Maestro Fleischer with members of the orchestra one hour prior to each concert.

Please note on Thursday, November 6 at the Bardavon at 7pm join us for a discussion on "The Role of Jewish-American Patriotism in Shaping American Music" featuring renowned Hudson Valley composer/musician Jay Ungar, HVP Maestro Randall Fleischer, Marist’s Center for Lifetime Study Music Teacher Leslie Gerber, and Michael Boriskin, Artistic & Executive Dorector of Copland House. Jay Ungar will also perform excerpts from the HVP concert. Mr.Copland, Mr. Ungar, Mr. Gerber and Maestro Fleischer were all born in the United States with parents who were Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. Copland and Ungar both created master works around Lincoln and the Civil War. The influence of their Jewish heritage on this quintessential American music will be the focus of the lecture/demo. To make the event accessible to all, admission will be a suggested donation of $5.
