The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
“Well, Clarice – have the lambs stopped screaming?”
Silence is dead-out spellbinding during the cat-and-mouse exchanges between the wily serial killer and the gutty law enforcement trainee. Under Jonathan Demme’s masterful cinematic surgery, we get into Lecter’s twisted skull and, through this outrageous descent, we come to see this sinister in the everyday. ~ Duance Byrge, The Hollywood Reporter (1991)
The film went on to claim five Oscars at the 64th Academy Awards, including in top categories for actor (Anthony Hopkins), actress (Jodi Foster) and director (Jonathan Demme).
Mini concerts on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ take place 30 minutes before each film and are made possible by the New York Theatre Organ Society (NYTOS).
The Bardavon/UPAC film series is sponsored by Marshall & Sterling, Herzog’s and Rondout Savings Bank.
