Event info

Walk into the Bardavon and back in time to The Fateful Hour, a thrilling recreation of the role Poughkeepsie played in the ratification of the US Constitution and the creation of the Bill of Rights.
Join us for the Poughkeepsie Big Read 2026 Finale! Judge Al Rosenblatt’s drama, directed by Roger H. Simon, is charged with tension as the Anti-Federalist  Governor George Clinton and the Federalist Alexander Hamilton argue the reins of power. Delegates Robert Livingston, John Jay and Melachton Smith have ideas, and “cameos” from others will challenge them all. Without this historically important hour in Poughkeepsie, there may have been no Bill of Rights today!
Free tickets will be available to pick up from the Poughkeepsie Public Library District locations and the Bardavon Box Office beginning October 15.

The presentation described on this page is a rental. If you would like information about renting the Bardavon or UPAC theater please visit our Rentals Page.
